Is Myspace Evil?
it seems that i come into contact with many people who think myspace is evil. largely due to the sexual predators that use it to prey on young teens, but does this make myspace evil? isn't it the predator who is evil and not myspace? when a person drives to a school and bribes a child into the car with candy; is the candy evil or the person behind the wheel? when a minister molests a child in the church; is the church evil or the minister?
there are many good things in the world that are used for evil acts. this does not make the candy, church, or webpage bad. it is the person who is using it in such a way. when a terrorist uses a plane to kill thousands of people do we call the planes evil? no, of course not. we acknowledge the good of the plane and change the rules for which it is used to protect the people who use them. the same should be done with myspace. both myspace and the parents should change the usage rules to protect those who use myspace.

MySpace is only evil in so far as it perpetuates a soul sucking force wherein everyone forgets rules for proper spelling and punctuation as well as general rules of aesthetics and social decorum.
Evil? No.
Eeeeevvvveeeil? Oh, HELLS yeah!
I LOVE myspace! It has put me back in contact with all kinds of "old" friends from high school and college. I have only had a couple of freaks that I didn't know request to be my friend, and I just deny. So, for keeping up with friends far away - it is a neat tool :)
as a 22 year old woman i don't see my space as being "bad" yes, there are weirdos on there and i just ignore their requests to message or friend me.
BUT as a 22 year old older sister, i'm not so much a fan of myspace. the truth is. young girls (like my 14 year old sister) just don't know when it's okay to talk to some one. especially when they have all these pictures up of how "hot they are"
my mom checks their profiles etc but i just dont feel very safe about it - when you are young it's so easily to get swayed, hell i'm still pretty "swayable."
i think tom (whoever he is) might try and regulate by making the age requirement but there's no way he can really know how old some one is who has an account
all in all - evil? no but a fine method of advancing mature communication/relations? no
the only things I don't like about 'myspace' are:
- the porn advertisements that pop up
- the creepy people who post there
- the fact that you have to register to post on a blog
Other than that it's great! HA
I got an account to post on a friends blog, but didn't stay becasue I find it too creepy. Though it's not evil...just dumb.
