Why Does Bologna Get A Bad Wrap?

this is my question for the day. so many people i know don't like bologna. they might have eaten it as kids, but now that they know how it's made they won't touch it with a ten foot pole. they might eat hotdogs, which is another form of bologna, or even sausage, which is made is a similar fashion, but not bologna.

i've been cutting back on my sodium intake for the last 6 weeks or so, and it is because of this that i've looked at a lot of nutritional labels. to my surprise bologna meats have 1/2 the sodium that regular sliced turkey or ham does. bologna might have a bit more fat grams, but fat isn't why my blood pressure was 140 over 90 when i went to the doctor.

i find it funny how we find the native americans using all parts of an animal that they've killed admirable, but when it comes to us we shun it. that shows how spoiled we americans are. while people in other countries and even our own starve, we pick only the choice cuts off of the animal and discard the rest. so if you don't eat bologna because you don't like the taste. i can live with that, but if you don't eat it because of how it's made, well, get over it already. it's not like you're not eating hotdogs or sausage anyway.

I personally find bologna's pinkness and unnaturally perfect roundness to be disturbing. But the perfect roundness extends to all lunch meats.

I don't believe in eating animals and that is why I don't eat it, but I do like soy meat replacement. :)

My ancestors did not climb to the top of the food chain in order for me to eat twigs and berries.

Give me bologna any day of the week.

It tastes absolutely foul. It smells putrid and it looks gross too. Why would anyone eat something that isn't appealing on any standard? At least hot dogs and sausage is edible, although they're certainly not my preference. I honestly can't see why anyone would eat bologna other than out of pure nostalgia.

hot dogs and bologna are the same....and using is when referring to more than one of anything doesn't work, so hows about you go crack a book and we'll handle the lunch meat debate, k? Go bologna go!

Bologna is absolutely disgusting.

Its texture: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

Its consistency: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

Its smell: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

Its taste: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

Its color: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

Its shape: not meat, not fruit, not grain, not vegetable.

I just had some chicken bologna, and I jokingly stretched it out and let it slink back together like rubber, repeatedly. My coworkers all cringed. Even if all of its constituent parts are wholly natural, everything about the bologna itself is entirely unnatural.

At least with hot dogs, you can cook 'em, get a crispy outside, and keep a juicy inside. Juicy bologna? Never. Crispy bologna? Sure, if you burn the worthless crap.

Might as well eat salty rubber. Or, hell, just give me the individual parts and let me make a stew out of them or something.

ANYTHING BUT BOLOGNA

Obviously, everyone has their own food preferences. Like or Dislike of bologna just plain and simple depends on the taste buds. I love bologna. A lot of people do not. That is fine. That is their choice. No need to argue. And people who do not eat meat all together, that is their choice too. Everyone has different taste buds. You will never find two people who like EVERYTHING exactly alike. And as for the person who posted this, If someone does not like bologna, that does not make them 'Spoiled' as you put it. We do not have to like bologna just because people in other countries starve. That is unfortunate but also, not our problem. We cant fix it so why worry about it. We eat what we want and what we like. That is that.
